The Council of The Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) currently consists of 23 councilors. Of the 23 councilors, 6 are Program/Institutional Representatives, 5 Practicing D.C.s, 4 Public Members and 8 At-Large Members. For more information, please view the CCE Bylaws, Articles VI and VIII.
Donald C. Bishop, M.A., Public Member
Mr. Bishop was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently serves as a Councilor. He has held the position of Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, since 2010. His previous assignments include Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, Associate Dean of Student and Enrollment Management, Vice President for Senior Executive Employments and College/MBA Recruitment at the university and various other dean and administrative positions at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Creighton University, Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, Guardsmark, and Ohio Wesleyan University. Bishop earned a BA and his MA in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.
Ashley E. Cleveland, D.C., Program/Institution
Dr. Cleveland was elected to the Council in 2011 and currently serves as a Councilor. She has held the position of Provost at Cleveland Chiropractic College-Kansas City, in Overland Park, Kansas, since 2008 and also held several dean, director and faculty positions at the college since 1997. Her previous assignments included various faculty positions at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and Stephens College. Cleveland earned a BA in English from Stephens College, a MA in Sociology from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and her D.C. from Cleveland Chiropractic College.
Jeannette P. Danner, M.S., Program/Institution
Ms. Danner was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently serves as a Councilor. She holds the position of Senior Director for Accreditation and Licensure at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, since 2007. Her previous assignments include Assistant to Director of Social Development Programs for the United Nations Education, Scientific, Cultural Organization; a Contract Employee of Asian InfoShare and Patient Advocate/Case Manager for St. Joseph Hospital-Creighton Medical Center. Danner earned a BA in Sociology and Asian Studies from the University of New Mexico and a MS in International Affairs from Florida State University.
Joseph J. Donofrio, D.C., Program/Institution
Dr. Donofrio was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently seves as a Councilor. He holds the position of Dean of Clinical Sciences at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina, since 2007 and also is Chair of Technique Department and Associate Professor at the college. Donofrio earned his D.C. from Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic.
Beth Donohue, D.C., Program/Institution
Dr. Donohue was elected to the Council in 2012 and currently serves as a Councilor. She has held the position of Director of Accreditaiton at New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, New York since 2005 and also held positions of Director of Accreditation & Planning, Dean of Planning, Assistant to the Executive Vice President/Provost and Dean of Analysis & Planning at the college. Donohue earned a BS in Human Biology from Cleveland Chiropractic College, a BS in Liberal Arts from The Board of Regents of The University of the State of New York, a MS in Higher Education from Syracuse University and her D.C. from Cleveland Chiropractic College.
Marc M. Gamerman, D.C., Private Practitioner
Dr. Gamerman was elected to the Commission on Accreditation in 2007, joined the Council in 2009 and currently serves as a Councilor. He has been a Private Practitioner in Hagerstown, Maryland since 1985 and holds a license to practice in Maryland. Gamerman earned a BS in Biology from Penn State University, a BS in Human Biology and a D.C. from National University of Health Sciences.
Lawrence M. Gerstein, D.C., Private Practitioner
Dr. Gerstein was elected to the Board of Directors in 2005, joined the Council in 2009 and currently serves as its Council Finance Committee Chair. He has been a Private Practitioner in Washington, Missouri since 1979 and holds a license to practice in Missouri. Gerstein earned his D.C. from Logan College of Chiropractic.
Sonja M. Brown Givens, Ph.D., Public Member
Dr. Brown Givens was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently serves as a Councilor. She holds the position of Associate Dean at SUNY Empire State College in Cheektowaga, New York and previously held various department chair positions with the University of Alabama – Huntsville and the National Communication Association. Brown Givens earned a BA and a MA in Speech Communication from California State University - Fresno, and her Ph.D. in Speech Communications from The University of Georgia.
Elizabeth A. Goulard, Ed.D., Public Member
Dr. Goulard was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently serves as a Councilor. She has a long and distinguished career as an academician and administrator and served as the Vice President, Academic Services at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon since 2000. Her previous experience includes positions of Dean of Instructional Services at Clackamas Community College; Dean, Health and Family Studies and Department Chair, Nursing at Portland Community College along with staff and supervisor nursing positions at the University of Wisconsin. She earned a BSN from the University of Wisconsin, a MSN from the University of Portland and her Ed.D. from Oregon State University.
Rudolph S. Jackson, Dr.PH, Public Member
Dr. Jackson was elected to the Commission on Accreditation in 2007, joined the Council in 2009 and currently serves as a Councilor. He holds the position of lead accreditation consultant with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and previously held positions of Vice President at the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges; Dean of Graduate Studies at North Carolina Central University and Director for the Partners for Minority Access for Doctoral Degrees Program at the University of North Carolina. Jackson earned a BA in Business Administration from Clark College, a MBA in Financial Management and his Dr.PH in Health Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dale F. Johnson, Ph.D., Program/Institution
Dr. Johnson was elected to the Council in 2010 and currently serves as a Councilor. He holds the position of Director of Research, Basic and Clinical Sciences at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California since 2006 and also holds faculty positions as Professor, Biochemistry and Pathophysiology at the college along with Instructor, Physical Chemistry at California State University. Johnson earned a BS in Chemistry from North Carolina State University, a MS in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Central Florida and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry and Surface Science from California Institute of Technology.
Eugene A. Lewis, D.C., Private Practitioner
Dr. Lewis was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently serves as a Councilor. He has been a Private Practitioner in Greensboro, North Carolina since 1979 and holds his license to practice in North Carolina. Lewis earned a BS in Medical Radiologic Technology from Salem College, a MPH in Community Health Education from the University of North Carolina and his D.C. from Logan College of Chiropractic.
Kathleen L. Linaker, D.C., Ph.D., Program/Institution
Dr. Linaker was elected to the Council in 2012 and currently serves as its Council Development Committee Chair. She currently holds the position of Executive Director, Chiropractic Program at D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York since 2009. Her previous assignments include, Director of Radiology at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College; Director of Clinical Radiology at Life University and Module Administrator at National University of Health Sciences. Linaker earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of Alberta, her D.C. from Northwestern Health Sciences University, and her Ph.D. in Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago.
Craig S. Little, D.C., Private Practitioner
Dr. Little was elected to the Commission on Accreditation in 2006, joined the Council in 2009 and currently serves as its Council Chair. He has been a Private Practitioner in Hanford, California since 1984 and holds a license to practice in California and Minnesota. Little earned a B.S. in Biology and his D.C. from Southern California University of Health Sciences. He also completed his post-graduate studies at the university and holds board certification in Chiropractic Orthopedics.
John C. Pammer, Jr., D.C., Private Practitioner
Dr. Pammer was elected to the Council in 2009 and currently serves as a Councilor. He has been a Private Practitioner in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania since 1960 and holds a license to practice in Pennsylvania. Pammer earned his D.C. from Palmer College of Chiropractic and received his board certification in Chiropractic Radiology.
Robert E. Percuoco, D.C., Program/Institution
Dr. Percuoco was elected to the Council in 2010 and currently serves as its Council Site Team Academy Committee Chair. He currently holds the position of Vice Chancellor for Academics at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa since 2010. Previous positions at the college include, Senior Director for Assessment, Assistant VPAA for Assessment, Dean of Academic Programs and several other dean and faculty positions. Percuoco earned a B.S. in the Sciences from Stonehill College and his D.C. from Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Joseph E. Pfeifer, D.C., Program/Institution
Dr. Pfeifer was elected to the Commission on Accreditation in 2006, joined the Council in 2009 and currently serves as its Council Bylaws, Standards, and Policies Committee Chair. He currently holds the position of Vice President of Clinics at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon since 2010. His previous assignments include, Director/Chief of Staff, Levittown Health Center; Chief of Staff for Clinical Services; Assistant Dean for Clinical Education and various faculty positions at New York Chiropractic College. Pfeifer earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and his D.C. from New York Chiropractic College.
Guy F. Riekeman, D.C., Program/Institution
Dr. Riekeman was elected to the Board of Directors in 2006, joined the Council in 2009 and currently serves as a Councilor. He holds the position of President at Life University in Marietta, Georgia since 2004. His previous assignments include President/Chancellor and Director of the Palmer Institute for Professional Advancement at the Palmer Chiropractic University System and Vice President for Development at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic. Riekeman earned his D.C. from Palmer College of Chiropractic.
John G. Scaringe, D.C., Ed.D., Program/Institution
Dr. Scaringe was elected to the Commission on Accreditation in 2007, joined the Council in 2009 and currently serves as a Councilor. He holds the position of President/CEO at Southern California University of Health Sciences in Whittier, California since 2010. Previously he held positions of Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean and Dean of Clinical Education along with various Director and Chair positions at the university. Scaringe earned a BS in Education from Slippery Rock University, a MS in Kinesiology and Motor Learning from California State University - Fullerton, his D.C. from New York Chiropractic College and his Ed.D. in Education Leadership from California State University - Long Beach.
Gary D. Schultz, D.C., Program/Institution
Dr. Schultz was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently serves as its Councilor At Large. He currently holds the position of Special Assistant to the President at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon, since 2013 and also held the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs at the university since 2006. His previous assignments include, Executive Vice President, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of Academic Affairs and other various dean and faculty positions at Southern California University of Health Sciences. Schultz earned his D.C. from National University of Health Sciences, completed a residency in Radiology from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and received his board certification from the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology.
Kenneth C. Thomas, D.C., Program/Institution
Dr. Thomas was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently serves as a Councilor. He holds the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs at Parker University in Dallas, Texas, since 2006 with previous assignments as Dean, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinics and Dean, Center for Chiropractic Sciences at Parker College of Chiropractic. Thomas earned a BS in Organic Chemistry and Biology from Dallas Baptist University, a MPT from AWF, Krakow, Poland, and his D.C. from Parker College of Chiropractic.

Dr. Ufberg was elected to the Council in 2009 and currently serves as a Councilor. She holds a license to practice in New York and is a senior clinician at Beth Israel Medical Center Continuum Center for Health and Healing in New York. Ufberg earned a BS in Biology and her D.C. from Southern California University of Health Sciences and holds certification in Chiropractic Rehabilitation.
Susan Wenberg, D.C., Private Practitioner
Dr. Wenberg was elected to the Council in 2013 and currently serves as a Councilor. She holds the position of staff chiropractor at the Southern Nevada VA Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and holds a license to practice in Arizona, Colorado and Nevada along with Physiotherapy and Acupuncture certification in Arizona. Wenberg earned a BA in Biology from Linfield College, a MA in Biology from the University of California at Los Angeles and her D.C. from Southern California University of Health Sciences.
